Introduction
This web portal provides both a public and back-end private interface to the HPC Consortium Member projects. The Consortium Members are working hard to optimize practical applications for the Cell processor, taking advantage of the 8 SPEs available on each CPU. Never before has such performance been possible on a single chip! With the completion of those projects that are open-source, this website offers a release and distribution vehicle, allowing you to download the optimized code for your Sony PS3, Mercury or IBM Cell Blade.

Cell Ray Trace Demo

IBMers have developed "iRT", an interactive ray tracer running YDL on IBM Cell blades with a PS3 as the head node. It demos a car model 75x more complex than those used in today's games.
